Meet the Basic Requirements

You must be at least 18 years old, have a Social Security number, and hold a high school diploma or equivalent. You do not need to be a Florida resident to apply.
STEP 1

Complete Your Pre-License Course

Florida requires all sales associate applicants to complete a state-approved 63-hour pre-license course. License EDU’s online course lets you study at your own pace and covers everything you need to pass your state exam.

Get Fingerprinted

Visit an FDLE-approved LiveScan provider to complete your electronic fingerprinting using ORI number FL920010Z. This initiates your background check and should be done at least 5 days before submitting your application.
STEP 4

Submit Your License Application

Apply online at MyFloridaLicense.com through the DBPR portal. The application fee is $83.75. Once submitted, DBPR will review your background check and approve you to sit for the state exam.
STEP 5

Pass the Florida State Exam

Schedule your exam through PearsonVUE online or by calling 888-204-6289. The exam fee is $36.75. The exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions and you need a score of at least 75% to pass.
STEP 6

Activate Your License with a Broker

After passing the exam, your license is issued in inactive status. To begin practicing real estate, you must affiliate with a Florida-licensed broker who will activate your license. Once active, you are ready to represent clients and earn commissions.
